Sorry that happened to you and wish you lots of luck on part 2. One thing I've learned living in Colorado is never cross water that's moving fast and you don't know the depth as it doesn't take much to float a vehicle.

PART 2 "THE REBORN OF THE RAPTOR"

Just to clarify and you guys understand why is not simple to swap things down here there are couple of things to consider

there are around 50 Raptors or less in the whole country.
To swap an engine it must be purchased from the dealer (IF NEW)
Parts are not around the corner and they are mark up sometimes 200% more.
Shipping service From USA to PERU is $9 per LB if the product is over $200 you will pay 19% of taxes plus another $11 of handling and another $11 for delivery.

After a month in the dealer where they did not even diagnosed the truck they just copy and paste a bunch of parts that don´t even make sense. (I attached the dealer quotation) and the insurance denied the coverage and since the cop never wanted to testify and there was no cameras. So it was my word vs his and obviously guess who won....

I have a mechanic background but I never work on the field so I though well F!2ck that I am going to revive my truck. Unfortanly the truck was dead no lights, nothing was turning on maybe just one light from the side mirror, So there was no way to knew what it was damaged so I started pulling everything out of the engine a considerably amount of water was removed from the intake, turbo, intercooler, I removed all the interior etc. (see the links) I hand turned the engine and it turned luckily but the alternator was making a funny noise. I took to it to service and they remove a lot of crap that it was inside of the alternator. After a couple of days I was lucky that I had a business trip to USA, before I had my flight I spoke to my "friend" who is a mechanic if he could make a compression test and maybe try to diagnose what else I would required so I could take full advantage of this trip to USA and bring most of the parts needed to fix it. After insisting him a couple of times and offering to pay extra for coming where my truck is and is funny because he is 5 min tops away from me he never came.

I paid the subscription to the Motorcraft service and saw all the wiring diagrams all the modules, so I ordered what I though was affected and was under water. I flew to Florida spent a week there pick up my parts and I returned home. During that week I was lucky that I met a great mechanic willing to guide me during this quest and he was the only one who gave me hope.
So while I was there I knew that the BCM would needed it to be programmed so the guy who I bought the truck (He owns a small ford dealership in a small town 7 hours away from the city) offered me to used his scan tool in order to program all the modules. Well after spending a few hours swiping parts the Raptor was giving signs that was alive. Radio worked, cluster, gps, air blower, seats etc.
I started changing fluids and I found that Tranny, Transfer case and both differentials had water contamination. I also cranked the engine with a remote starter some water came out too. I finally had the compresión test kit. THE MOMENT OF TRUE I measured all cylinders most of them where 120psi but one was 90psi and other one was 0 :(. That was a very frustrating day.
The guy who is guiding me told me that I should not be worry maybe is just a bent valve, but what it was really Important is to be able to program the key and try to fire up the truck at least enough so the transmission and everything moves. In order to flush all the liquids again and see if the truck has more errors. Unfortanly the guy who was supposed to bring the scan tool gave me a lot of BS.
So I am trying to stay out of the radar of the officials dealers as I mention before the raptor community is very small so I if decide one day to sell the truck I just want to avoid any bad comments. I call another dealer that works on Fords and few other brands. which some friend recommend me I spoke to the owner but he was trying to avoid the truck saying that it was to big, that it would take weeks there bla bla bla



So since I am tired of all the people with bad vibes I purchased the cable for Forscan I will do everything myself. After all the engine needs to be taken apart at least the cylinder heads. I spoke to guy who is helping me and we talked about he coming down here to help me out and I ask him how much he will charge for his labor and I was surprised at his answer. He said "Don't worry I will take that time as a vacation" so I responded if we make that truck run again we will go to Machupichu (One of the seven wonders of the world) and also where ever he would like to go and enjoy the amazing food.

Just a few notes to consider.

9 qt of ULV oil are $160
Transmission filter $200
$1 US Dollar is 3.6 Soles (Peruvian currency) so what I meant with this is that it takes 3.6 times more money to us to get a $1 US dollar
My truck is the basic Raptor US MSRP $47k(no other versions are available) even that it cost $80k here

So basically this truck is sucking me a lot of money and I am running out of my savings... so maybe later on ... I will post my kidney on the classified section LOL.

ok, but your post count is too low to advertise in the classified section of FRF. Hopefully one of your kidneys will fetch a princely sum once you have enough posts.

Damn dude that sucks. Water damage will almost always total a vehicle because all the electronics will essentially need to be replaced. Hindsight is always 20/20 but always get out and walk the path if any uncertainty exists. For water crossings, dont be afraid to get wet and walk it otherwise this can happen.

Wow. Film it and put it on youtube to help fund it. It worked for Tavarish and Rich Rebuilds. Plus you have additional challenges of not being anywhere near proper support for it. Good luck with it. I’m rooting for you!

Also, I might have to order some ají de gallina tomorrow now. :D

Thanks for the idea, well first of all I think that by just reading this post and giving me good vibes it helps a lot. I hope that people read this and if you guys ever face this situation at least you know that your 450Hp and 35 inch tires and you baja mode are BS against mother nature LMAO.

Well any extra hand, any useful tip, any kind of help is welcome. Maybe I could do the funding but I think if is the proper phrase is "you scratch my back, I´ll scratch yours." I though that I could give something back too. (I work on a textile factory) and depending on the amount maybe I could do some T shirt with custom logos and send to the people who support the cause and maybe if they are generous enough they can come to Peru and I will take them into a 2 day adventure Tour. We could go to watch the NAZCA LINES, also go to highest dune on the world and many other sites and **** ton of food.

Wow. That's beautiful. I've seen so many excellent photos of South America. One day I'll make it down there. I have a good friend who's initially from Uruguay who now lives in Belgium and another who's family is from Brazil. They're great people too.

That's a good idea about the shirt. You should make one where it shows the fording depth of the truck. On the front it's a calm creek with the truck in it without an issue. On the back, the water has increased and it's now a wide, raging river with a Raptor stuck in it!
