Can I rent a radio for the weekend?

Will a radio like this one work? lvj-motorsports

Where do you mount them?

Not sure on renting. I have the 9800 from Keith (LVJ) and have the head unit installed in the headliner and the base above the glovebox. Sweet setup.

Try some of these links for help.

hand helds seem more portable, don't require a separate antennae, but less powerful. How many watts of power is needed? Do I need to get a license?

that helps a bit. if the wattage is low (like a handheld) then i don't need a license. If the wattage is high or I want to use a different frequency then I need a license... i think

I'm looking for a no-brainer plug and play license-free solution to the 2017 Snoball.

I assume the handhelds listed here have adequate range and can be programmed for Snowball? http://www.fordraptorforum.com/f12/one-only-radio-thread-34162/

@poser999 you do not need a license for the TYT as far as I know. If you buy a TYT I will buy it from you for a huge discount lol if you decide not to keep it. I'd like one more for my tractor. @Kmandoske will be there at snoball and he can set you up with what he think's is a good deal for me and letting you use it first. I will not need an antenna so there's that.

If your that one person who follows the letter of the law then you need a license to use a VHF radio when you transmit at more than 2 or 5 watts of power. The GLRE 1,2,3 channels are MURS channels and there is no license needed to transmit on them when under 2 or 5 watts. So the Boufeng radios i sell fall into that category. If your a risk taker or feel the need to get a license then you can get a 60 watt radio and have the transmit and recieve power to talk with those truck around the next corner.
