For those that went with BigJ's Android offering (AlpineQuest GPS) here are two maps, one is the track only, the other includes some of the surrounding roads in case you get lost, need to get to a major road quickly etc...

See you guys soon!!

For those that want to make your own maps to Alpine here is the tutorial (its not the easiest to find on their website).
AlpineQuest » Create your Offline Maps

The files are too big to upload here, guess I added too many zoom levels... if someone wants to host them I'll email the file. I have to run though, too much to do before hitting the road!

This is one of the reasons there are drawbacks to using anything that's iPad or Android based. With the Lowrance, it's a very small file that can contain 1000's of miles of trails, and 100's of waypoints. One of these days, I'll get around to posting a "How-To" on how I create the runs with Raptor Expeditions, and show how using Google Earth and the Lowrance together works VERY well and is super easy to use, transfer, organize, and navigate.

The GPX XML file is a bit crude and is text based, and some converters work better than others... so if you're having issues, try another converter program.

There is an Android App Backgourny Navigator that will let you upload a GPX file. It is 10 bucks, or you can do a 16 day trial.

I am doing the trial to see how it works.

Ok - I've got it loaded now.

Extract the GPX from the ZIP file in this post, then do this:

1. To import waypoints or tracks, send an email from your Mac or PC with one or more GPX files attached to [email protected].

2. You will receive an email, which should be viewed from your iPhone Mail app.

3. Select the link in the email. MotionX-GPS will launch and provide a summary of the number of items that will be imported.

4. Select "Import Now" and the waypoints or track will be imported.

It looks like it worked, I have your 2012 file that you named it. Is there anything else to see other than the outline of the track?

Mine showed waypoints I think, but I don't have it right now to look again.

This is also my first time using the app.

I was able to import the GPX file into the Backcountry app on my android phone. Small screen but better than nothing.

Almost any gps app will allow direct importing the gpx file.

Just email it to yourself and import it!

So I figure downloading the map is the next best thing to being there.....I looks great to me!

Blue, does the Lowrance unit allow you to open you bank application so you can transfer money from your savings account to pay for the gear Outlaw is bringing to the ranch? ;-)

I'll be converting the file to use with MotionX GPS for iPad/iPhone this morning. I'll post that format here when I figure it out.

O.K. I T goooooooooorooooooooooo's. Someone gonna down load this shit to My Droid Razor when we get to Ihop? I can barley pick up a call let alone download something to my damn phone!

Now I did buy an Otter Box for My Razor today and after looking it over I fabbed up a .32 cent dash mounting bracket and can now place my Razor horizontally above my Nav Screen. COOL! Nothing permanent, just held in with some body tape on some clear film I use on everything. Bounced off a few curbs to try it and it don't EVEN giggle. Held onto my bracket with the belt clip thingy. HAhahaaaaaa. CHEAP BASTARD GPS MOUNT! HAhaha.
