Found a possible last-minute GPS option for under a buck. MotionX GPS is a solution looking for a problem. It is an iPhone app that can make a map after one pass, which can then be followed in real-time. It will also keep track of your lap time so might be fun to see how am doing at waypoints to improve on previous runs : ) Should be able to find a mount for dash. Iphone is a small screen, but better than driving blind until have made enough laps to learn the course. Apparently there is also an iPad app (and is probably available as an app for other types of smartphones?). I will check it out today while out and about.

With MotionX, you should also be able to load the track map and waypoints from Trey when we get to the ranch.

It's what I plan on using with an iPad.

So I'm gone for a week and I come back to 10+ new pages. I am wondering what I missed so I just spent the last 30 minutes reading.

That's 30 minutes I'll never get back! You women are sure chatty sometimes and about nothing to boot. :manos:

See all you girls in a few days! :peace:

BTW - 51 trucks and drivers and 63 guests registered!

Yes, all the channels we are using should be programmed.

PCI stepped up and loaned us a few handhelds!

That's great! Thanks Trey. VHF radio com will def add a lot to the fun factor. And thanks for putting all of this together.

That's awesome Panda. Do you have a way to mount it?

Whisler it sounds like you will need a Nav breadcrumb contingency plan... Might want to get get the app

Can you use an iPad with GPS ONLY - may have access to one without 3G

I don't think this will work, but I haven't tested it. On the MotionX website they say " Uses the GPS chipset in the 3G iPad, but it also works great in Wi-fi mode!" I think there is Wi-Fi at the ranch, I doubt it covers the track.

You're only out the $1.99 cost of the app if it doesn't work though, so it might be worth a shot.
