I acquired a few Rigid D2 driving lights in a lot purchase at a auction. What I thought was a great surprise might be a waste. I tried to do a quick test and hot wire them to a 12V battery, but got nothing. I can't imagine all of them being bad, so I guess I have two primary questions,.
1. Most of the equipment was military, could they be 24V. If so, do I have any options. Also, how to check (resistance reading or some other method). I thought if you plugged a 24V led to a 12V source it would work, just not shine as bright.

2. If they are bad, anyone know what refurbishment would cost and/or if question #1 is the case, convert to 12V

Thanks

I thought the same, I know some HID set ups are 24V. Is there any reason the light won't illuminate by holding the + and - direct to a 12V battery. The battery was at 12V. I can't see 7 D2's all being bad.

If they are 24V, 12V probably won't light them at all. I have some high end LED flashlights and when the batteries start to die, they are barely any dimmer and then just instantly die.

not dumb at all, yep double checked that one. Standard rigid wiring red and red w/black stripe

sent an email to rigid both asking about the possibility of being 24v and refurbish cost. Curious to see what they have to say. I know when I installed my dually in the fog light location I had some weird things going on when I had a bad ground connection (barely lit, intermittent, etc), but going straight wire on battery post, should be pretty idiot proof (or not, wouldn't be the first time)

noticed all the rigid install kits have a relay. Trying to remember, but don't the use of the upfitters negate the need for a relay? So could lack of a relay be the issue, sorry if this is a dumb question,

Edit, just to clarify, these aren't being tried on the truck yet. I am away from it for a while. Just came by these and was trying to test them with a 12V car battery, not the raptor
