Hello All,
I am looking for a temporary way to increase payload capacity of my Raptor by about 1K lbs and stay within $1k.
I searched many of the rear leaf spring threads but didn’t see anything that pertained to my requirement for a temporary increase.
Background: I need the capability to put about 2K lbs in my truck when I move every two to three years. I do not do any other towing and I’m currently happy with the ride quality and height of the rear. Only mod I have is mid perch on the front.
I typically rent a U haul (6x12’) and travel around 1300 miles. I have a lot of weapons and ammunition that I move myself (1K+) and this easily exceeds the payload of the truck. Even when I use the trailer I only get about 2200lbs. I also move reloading equipment and tools which adds up quickly. I don’t normally run out of room, I run out of weight capacity. I am currently looking into getting an enclosed trailer which will add to the capability of moving weight, but I want to explore options for increasing payload capacity as well.
Ideally there is an option to temporarily increase capacity that I can bolt on. I don’t want to permanently alter the characteristics of the truck. My truck spends most of its time on road and I don’t do 60mph down gravel roads (yet).
If there isn’t a temporary bolt on fix, it looks like I will need new progressive springs. I have also seen the RPG video of the longer bump stops but I’m not sure I want to go with a stage 2 kit and spend $1500. I am interested in everyone’s thoughts and experience on this. Thanks for your time.
