Do you work outdoors, or where you're employees will see the truck often? Is there a chance the truck could be damaged?

In generally the answer depends on your attitude, yes, but in whether your salary is drastically above their own, or the difference in your responsibility vs there's. There's really only going to be an issue if that balance isn't what it should be to begin with.

The other point I'd make is that there are a zillion ways to spend money these days. There are tons of people that could afford a Raptor if they wanted it, but they don't because they chose to spend their money (or save it) elsewhere. Seriously, a single man who opted for a cheap apartment, nice car, and such shouldn't hear any crap from a married w/2 kids and a wife that doesn't work, living in a home who takes a lot of vacations. I think a lot of people get that, but yes, there are a lot of folks there that refuse to consider it's their own choices that keeps them from getting what the other guy's got.

As is often observed, perception is everything. I was pulled over by a female law enforcement officer once, she (very nicely) gave me a verbal warning rather than a citation, and complemented me on my Raptor. I wound up popping the hood and giving her my Ford Raptor Orientation Briefing. Young drivers have asked me what it cost, and a middle-aged women with GWB (Global Warming Brain) cussed me out at a gas station. Your coworkers will perceive your truck in probably every way you can imagine and several ways that you probably can't.

And so what? My 2011 Raptor has been my daily driver for nine years. I parked it everyday at work, used it to move 2000 miles from northern Alabama to northern Nevada, took it over mountain passes in the Rockies, towed trailers, hauled motorcycles and everything else in the world, and I never once gave any consideration to what other people might think or feel about my vehicle or choice of vehicle. What goes on in their heads is their responsibility, and what goes on in mine is mine.

It's an F150, not a Ferrari. And while it's relatively expensive "for a truck" in the grand scheme of things, it's not all that expensive. You can easily get a BMW X5 to cost more than a Raptor and those are all over the freaking place. With banks offering 6 and 7 year financing options "Raptor money" isn't really what it seems. The sooner you realize it's really not all that special or unobtainable, the less you'll worry about what image it portrays.

I've driven mine to clients offices many times and I've never had a negative reaction. At best, a client will jokingly say "oh we're paying you too much" and that happened once when I had the dealer tags on it.

That's what I am thinking, I got a good deal and there is way more expensive cars out there. I was planning on waiting till I got my plates to bring it in.

I'm curious... how old are you?
30 in a position where everyone under me is a lot older and those before me were at least 20 years older than me. Thats one stigma I came in with but I have already overcome it.

If there is any stigma from the employees it will go away in a day or two if you’re in the trenches with them. You bust your ass, be proud of what you have.
Thanks man! Definitely am, I worked my ass of to get here. Its just different being on the other side of the Hourly/Salary worker.

I agree with this. Don't get me wrong, raptors are nice but they are less expensive than a loaded up F150 limited or platinum in many cases and similar money as all the premium lines... Denali, ram limited, high country ltz...etc. Also cheaper than all the big daddy diesels and those are running the roads everywhere. So don't worry about it.

The uneducated people associate Raptors with big money bc there was a time when they had zero discount and often mark up. But now a days its pretty easy to find them with a solid discount like any other vehicle.

As a matter of fact,, A buddy of mine was shopping for a limited Tundra and ended up with a Raptor bc he got a better deal and was cheaper.

U earn ur money, enjoy what u buy and don't worry about others!
Yeah my buddies fully loaded platinum cost way more than I would ever think of paying.

It’s just a truck. Quit worrying about what others may think. You have no control over it. I’m a Union mechanic and have both a 20 Raptor and a 17 Z06 Corvette that I drive to work everyday. Nobody at my work treats me any different than when I drove my 02 Saleen or my butt ugly Neon
Lol yeah ive only driven beaters most of my life

This might be the most whipped message I've ever seen lol

Have a backbone...
LMAO you are right! Im just speaking from experience! Every where Ive worked, My co workers have had those opinions and then their work value usually goes down. If I had NEVER seen someone lose motivation from seeing what their boss does with their money then I would have never brought it up. Yeah they eventually get over it but Ive worked where it just takes one negative person to bring down the rest of the team, Just because of the opinions they have. Especially if its an old timer who is already leading the team.

I dont work outdoors but facility is maybe 20 employees, with maybe the newest car is a 2015. You can see every car in the parking lot. 2nd point is my salary is greatly larger than theirs. Obliviously I aint complaining but I know how much they make and its not even what I made before I became salary. But my job responsibilities are worth the salary. But since I am knew I still dont have the ability to do things my job requires. It takes time.

Sounds to me it's self-perceived elitism. ..aka ego...nothing more.

You think your coworkers are reacting different because you think they should because you drive what you think is a superior truck.

Try a dose of humility. Goes a long way these days.

Be confident, if you lead by example, the team will respect you for it. If you’re competent at what you do, you’re fair and respect the team, then you have nothing to worry about.

Sup everyone! So i recently purchased a 2020 Leadfoot and loving it so much, but I have yet taken it to work. I am a manager where I work and I am also new here. Been working here for little over a month now.

I would love to bring my truck to work but I feel like my workers would definitely change their attitude towards me. First off, I am not an ******* and I carry my weight around here pretty well. I get dirty with the rest of them. So I feel like I am making good head way with my team.

You can either be that guy, who the team resets, don't get along with and rub the wrong way, or you can be an example to aspire to. If you earned your stripes, they can only be angry at themselves for not excelling more. Life at work is never friction free, there will always be people who aren't "for you", maybe they're not against you, per se, but there are always a few at every job.

UNLESS, of course, you're a well paid bouncer at a bar called the Double Deuce... Then by all means, commute in a beater.

I can understand your position because its your first management role, however you are there to lead them to obtain a specific goal that your employer has set for you. Be a leader, show confidence in who you are and your skills. Worrying about what people might or might not think of you is not a way to live.

well in op defence, it depends what sort of guys u r managing. I understand your hesitation. events like keyed cars, broken lights, even windows, spray painted and others do happen. though rare and depends upon where you live or work, are there any x cons working under u, if yes, then you might wana keep raptor for long drives with family and vacations type stuff. for your piece of mind, park it where u can see it. or some guard sitting nearby, or under a camera, gives additional itch to ****** bags. Those who are very surprised on op question, calling it ego and spineless ...... just plain stupid people. living on dadys money. cmon, op worked his way up and bought him a nice truck, that he loves and he can care for it however he wants. those concerns are genuine, i have lost business deals for showing up in my 97k lx570 and the reason was they tried to lower the purchase cost and we fought on it. then the purchase manager actually quoted me iam making a lot of profit, this happened 3 times, different factories, but this is a bit different environment. i supply factory parts on credit. even the guy i was paying side compression to ok my products told me man i need more money wana buy a suv like yours. So yeah it happens, but in op environment, i dont think its gonna be a big problem, because you all work for someone else and not paid by the op directly.
and for those stupid guys, i have seen cases where final outcome was murder and cause was a nicer dog, beautiful wife, nicer house and nicer cars..... if u know anyone in law enforcement, ask them. u'll be surprised by the level of sick people that exist, might one be living next door to u
