Take it back to your dealer and tell them to order the OEM shock and install it. It takes all of 10 minutes.

I understand, my question is simply was it supposed to come with the truck or not as all the videos I see on YouTube see the tailgate coming down slowly. I can order the shock and install it myself if it's an extra item.

I have the option and mine goes down slow. Everyone is telling you to take it in. So, take it in!

I took it in any they say they have to take the tailgate off to look at the pivot pin as something might be wrong, they seemed a bit clueless. Does yours have a shock or is it some kind of resistive hinge?
