Tailgate LED

So I saw what I think was a 2017 F150 Platnium driving down the road & it had what appeared to be a factory tailgate LED. According to the build & price tool at Ford.com, it shows this as a factory option on the 2018 Raptor also (part of the 800A package).

Just wondering if anybody can confirm or deny this as I don't remember seeing it on the list of things being changed for the 2018 Raptor.

I'm not sure if this what it is that your talking about but the "tailgate LED" referenced in the build and price has been standard on all F150s with Lariat Trim and above since 2015.

It's just a small puddle lamp on the tailgate handle.

Was it what crash said or was it an actual bar that had turn signals built in (like the one we sell from Baja Designs?)

Guys this putco LED tailgate bar is awesome. It looks factory. It has break lights, running lights, turn signals, and a great reverse light. Check out their website for a video. It may not be for everyone but the price is great for what you get. Anybody sell these on here? The Baja designs one taillight bar looks great too but it is expensive. Has anyone tried that one?

Baja Designs IS awesome and yes it IS expensive... but you really get what you pay for. I've sold a few of the Baja Designs bars as well (a couple yesterday or today I think). Not sure if the buyers were from this board though.

I posted about the PUTCO light bar in a few other threads, but here is the info again:

I installed the Putco Switchblade 60" light bar. Make sure you get the 92009-60 if you have the BLISS pro-trailer option.

I don't like tapping into the factory harness if I can help it, so I also got a plug-and-play harness.

CURT 7-pin plug-and-play T-Connector (P/N: 55384):

It plugs in-between the 7-pin connection under your truck (behind the bumper, next to the spare tire).

The attached 4-pin connector on the CURT harness plugs right in t the LED bar, then you tap in the reverse light wire to the center wire on the 7-pin portion of the same harness. Since I have the BLISS pro trailer option, I did have to do a power connection under the dash so that it wouldn't detect anything and still provide a 12V source (their included instructions show you how to do this).

Also note that if you have the remote tailgate opener, you will need to use a spacer (~0.400" thick) for the light to clear the black bracket and bolt near the right side of the tailgate where the light goes. I used some dense foam I had around. I also contacted Putco with pictures and said their R&D department would look into it; but as of a couple days ago, they decided not to pursue it anytime soon.

I did find some pretty durable rubber products on Amazon though if needed:

The info above is correct. I bought this harness and used it for a while but I was constantly getting messages that a trailer is connected. This was a pain in the butt. The best way to install this is follow the provided directions completely. You will have to remove the tail light and tap into the left turn wire, right turn wire, reverse wire, etc. This will allow you to avoid the constant "a trailer is connected" messages from the truck. Here is the diagram that I used for the LED left tail light.

The info above is correct. I bought this harness and used it for a while but I was constantly getting messages that a trailer is connected. This was a pain in the butt. You will have to remove the tail light and tap into the left turn wire, right turn wire, reverse wire, etc. This will allow you to avoid the constant "a trailer is connected" messages from the truck. You certainly have to follow all the directions from PUTCO, which include cutting the red wire on their harness and adding the power tap under the dash.

The harness I mention is only an alternative to wiring to the tail light or other sources in a clean way.

I have a fully loaded 802A and have been running the PUTCO without issue for months.

The actual bar that has the brake lights and turn signals. I think it might now be an options for the more expensive F-150's, but I don't think the Raptor was included in that.
