I thought 4a was for the EV’s.

’24 Mustang has sync 4

Looks like the EVs and the Edge got it.

I think they threw it on the Edge to keep them selling for 2024. They decontented the shit out of them, then killed it off entirely after '24.

Wireless AA is nice.

So question for those that are smarter than myself, it looks like only the 2019 and 2020’s got the ability to retain XM radio after swap? That being said, would it be possible to just swap in a “newer” ACM I.e. the cd player, into an “older” model year? My 2018 will in theory not get XM radio unless I get the app an use it via CarPlay I assume.

I feel like it physically would work, just don’t know how nicely things would play, software wise.

UPDATE: finished the install and things look pretty good. there are some updates that will need to be done to fix a few things, such as turning off the passenger airbag light, getting heated/cooled seats working, getting the heated steering wheel working etc.. But the system is snappy and works well, and as expected the XM is not working, but according to the company, I could just swap in a 2019+ radio and it will come back.

overall the install was pretty straightforward, it didnt come with any instructions and was missing some of the mounting hardware, so I kinda just had to watch others videos on how they did it and throw in misc hardware that I had on hand for some of the small things. the gapping is pretty good, I think I need to do some small tweaks to get things flush and perfect, but other than that, works as expected and works nicely!

the car play is great, connected wirelessly after setup. im going to have to get used to having this big screen now! I was almost set to get one of the other "T-style" screens, but opted to go this route to have a more "stock" appearance.
