Has anyone actually been able to update their Sync3 via USB?

I am currently on build 17276 (end of May update). The version I'm on has a lot of issues with using apps, and being slow, etc.
I am tried updating via Wi-Fi and that starts to download but magically stops.

If I try to install via USB, absolutely nothing happens. I am definitely not computer illiterate, and just to make sure I did it correctly, I had the wife watch every step per Ford's little guide. Nothing.

Any luck for you guys?

I did a reset of the system before the update and it worked. It sucks, but at least it took the update.

I did it awhile ago but I remember it taking several minutes before anything showed up on the screen. I used usb with an external hard drive. It had 1000s of other files on it and the upgrade worked fine anyway. Try again and wait it out longer.

My sync USBs do nothing. Won’t even charge. Any ideas? All other ones are working.

I had this problem with both front sync usbs but it was temporary, cycled ignition a few times and they came back

I had the same issue whee nothing happens after I plugged in the USB. I learned that I have to be very patient. After about 5 minutes, the Raptor finally indicated update in progress. It takes another 20 minutes to complete the update. The key is patience!

Your USB stick or SD card in a card reader may have an LED “activity” indicator. If you see it flashing after plugging into the usb port, something’s probably going on.

^^^^this

I was absolutely sure it was not working, doing nothing at all. But the third time I did it I walked away to do something, forgot about it, and when I came back 40 minutes later it was done. I simply was not waiting long enough on the previous attempts.

The issue I am having is when I insert the USB stick with the update files, I get the following error message: "Installation Failed. MEM_ERR01. Please download files and try again". I have formatted the memory stick to exFAT per the instructions on owner.ford.com. The only thing I can think could be wrong is that I am using a 4GB USB stick instead of the specified 32GB. So this morning I went and bought a 32GB. It is currently being formatted; once it is done I will try it again.

I have also tried the update over WiFi and when I tell it to scan for updates, it just says "Searching for Updates" indefinitely. I must have let it try for a half hour last night. I even parked it really close to my house to get a strong WiFi signal.

Same here. I had a hard reboot by disconnecting the pos battery terminal for 1 hr then it took the USB update fine. Mine was freezing up on nav and radio.
