I am an HES specialist in the oil/gas industry. I do own one home, but it isnt all that it's cracked up to be sometimes.

I grew up dirt poor with ******, abusive parents. Dads a bully and moms a drug addict. The fact that I even contribute to the tax base could be considered by some a measure of 'success'. I'm the only person in my family with a degree and interestingly the only one not blaming someone else for my 'bad luck'.

The Raptor is my first new vehicle and only the third vehicle I've had where all the buttons work, lol.

Everything I have, I've earned.

The most important thing to me WRT 'success' is that Captain Chaos is healthy, happy and never has to go to bed hungry.

I do find the anti-real estate comments curious. This is a perfect time to invest in real estate, IMO. I have 3 homes financed at 3%, two are rented for more than the mortgage. Considering I have very little of my own money invested and stand to make a minimum of $4M over 25yrs on two of them, I'd call that a 'good' investment but I'm no expert.

I have an engineering degree. I am a District Project Controls Engineer for a Oil, Gas & Chemical corporation. I do a lot of planning and scheduling for big $billion+ jobs. I get to travel a lot all over the US and I even spend many months overseas. I am doing well and I am moving up the ladder but I am young and in the initial stages of my career so I am not making a killing yet. I can't complaint though, salary has been going up significantly every year and the market for my skill set is up the roof.

The most important thing for me is that I love what I do. I really love my career and I work really hard to get better every day.

I have to admit buying such an expensive truck was not a smart financial decision but man I love the RAPTOR and is one of the things I enjoy in my life. I am not married and don't have any kids so that's why I can own a Raptor.

WarSurfer....

That is one great lookin kid. After having 5 of my own, having them look up at you with those "you are my hero" eyes, everything else just pales in comparison.

You'll also love it when they get in their 20's and tell you "hey, dad, I couldn't believe the other day I found myself saying the exact same shit you used to tell me when I was a kid." Wow, i guess some of those painful dad-lectures actually went somewhere.

Kids spell love T-I-M-E (note I did not include the fictitious term "quality")
