Madcow--wish I could help you but my subs are installed differently with each one having a different crossover set up and amp with a gain knob installed for adjustments in the dash. Was tuned during install speaker by speaker to ensure the best sound. I run everything flat on the head unit most of the time and will tweak the bass gain on the 13.5 JL occasionally. When running at full volume on the head unit you should have no distortion or clipping. This is tough because of the different media inputs radio, satellite and CD, DVD, or IPod.

Good luck.

I've got my gain on my sub all the way up with the stock setting 2 clicks above 0. Some times I'll put the stock back down 1+ depending whos in the truck.... parents usually. The MTX isn't very loud if stock is at 0 so make sure its 1 or 2 above 0 and your good to go. I pulled my signal wire and no problems with it turning on so the factory MTX amp is smart enough to know when to turn on due to signals from the RCAs. I think my SCV is at 3 maybe 4 but not 100% sure.

Also the LOC is for if you are getting signal off a speaker wire. That is for head units that don't have RCA jacks for signal output. With the Factory sub in your truck you already have just the signal wires (RCA signals) that went to the factory sub amp. Swing by the house and i'll look it over for you if you are still in doubt.

So gain is set all the way up. But what do you have X-over set to? Thanks, Alan

Do you notice any inconsistency in yours?

No inconsistency with my sub or Ryan's. Also, no real difference with my signal wire plugged in or not. At first I thought it was softer but that was my mind playing games.

My X-over I don't really know where it is set at. First I maxed it all the way out then started pulling it back and its probably half way now. Really you just want the X-over Hz just high enough to get you bass all the way up to the stock door speakers and maybe a little bit over. That is something you will just have to mess with so you don't have dead Hz's in your music.
