I put a Cravenspeed .50cal on mine. I could not stand that thing whipping in the wind. In a truck that is a sophisticated as the Raptor is, you have this antenna that dates back to 30s. Cmon Ford!!

You unscrew the old one and screw in the new one. It takes 1 min.... the antenna is super cheap aswel. I plan on using one of the fin antennas, just need to get the measurements once my truck gets here and I'll order one.

What size wrench? Do you need locktite? What if the old one is really set in there? I heard you have to tune the new antenna. Is that true?

Those things suck for reception. I put my original back on.

Tizz, Jimbo can help you with this mod. He's the Charlie Daniels of the torque wrench.

Yes, you'll have to tune it. If you go into your radio page, select settings, then hold the 7 and 8 key while simultaneously pressing the heated steering wheel button it will let you into the engineering menu. Once you're there you'll want to scroll to option 6 - maintenance/dealer functions and then down to option 8-calibrate new antenna. It will prompt your for a length as well as the calibration number that came on the small pink sticker that was on the package. Enter that, and it'll auto tune. Piece of cake.

Yeah it was the dealer. They said since it was an 802a the antenna runs on a difference frequency with sync 3. They made it sound pretty serious. All this new tech with the new trucks has me kinda worried. It'll prob be $250 well spent for peace of mind. Appreciate the guidance though. Maybe after a few beers, I'll be brave enough to say screw it, let's get these hands dirty and put this bitch on.
