Does it matter that the Gen1 is Sync2 and the Gen2 is Sync3?
Doubt it for AM/FM

Nope.
Look.. I literally put a gen1 stubby on my gen2 truck today.
When removing the stock antenna.. nothing magical happened. No yard gnomes came out or rainbows or anything. It looks like.. an antenna.
Everything still works with the stubby.
One more time.. they are the same.

So, wait.. What I think I hear that you are saying is that since your Gen 1 was modified with a stubby antenna, it is faster then a Gen 2 on the street?
