Yea I should have been more specific. I have the 801a system with the nav and all the goodies. I'm just amazed they have it so screwed up that not even upgrading speakers will help. I'm not looking to drop too much cash right now because it works well enough to tolerate, but would a sound processor be something I could wire in line to the existing system or is that something that needs to be done with something like an aftermarket amp?

Interesting side note, I have an LG G2 with RocketPlayer for my music and it has a setting for preamp that I moved up from 1/2 to about 3/4 that seemed to help a noticeable amount. Is there anything that can be done along the lines of software before tearing apart the actual system?
not with the oem system. there are eq settings at the deck that some people have said makes it better, but until you add that sound processor and amp, you are pretty much stuck with it.

sub'd - I just picked up my Raptor with the 801a system and I like how well its integrated with the truck - it just sounds absolutely horrible.

If someone can provide more information about this sound processor/amp (and also is it even worthwhile to do with the stock speakers) - would be greatly appreciated.

This. I'd eventually like to do a complete system but in the meantime would adding in a processor / amp be worth it?

you can add a sub and amp with an active eq line converter. thats the best way to go. the sound processor is for when you are ready for the complete upgrade

Noah, would the active in line eq be for the speakers or for the sub/amp setup? Because honestly I can add bass later, and the stock sub is bearable for now. But since it sounds like getting the sound processor plus the speaker amp is more of a complete overhaul and the active eq is a more intermediate step if you combine it with an aftermarket speaker amp if I'm understanding correctly?

for what it is worth.... I stream my music through bluetooth via my iphone 5. My music was incredibly muffled and i had to crank it all the way up to hear anything decently with the sunroof and windows down. I was looking at my iphone settings general/music/. the soundcheck was on and i cut it off. It gave me about 50% more volume with that one switch. I also set the eq to "rock" and that helped a bit since for some reason it was set to acoustic.

maybe this will help some of you get more sound out of what we have.
