Ford has electric-assist steering in F-150s with the exception of the 6.2L trucks. The 6.2L trucks are a couple hundred pounds heavier on the front axle then the other engine equipped trucks. My guess is that the Ford system cannot handle the additional load placed on the steering system from the heavier weight and larger tires.

If you want to do this right, you will find someone with a 2010 5.4L Raptor since they are a bit lighter up front. Use a 2013+ F-150 electric-assist steering system and do a retrofit.

Let me know when you want me to bring my truck in for a retrofit.

I do know that the flanges on the rack ends are larger on the 2010 than later years. Not sure when the change started, but @wiz1500 's rack ends were larger than the rack off my 2013. Even the boots are different.

Looks like Im not the only one who would like electric steering lol.

The biggest problem doing a EPAS retro fit is power and space.....I can usually find a box strong enough to turn any set of wheels. Supplying it with power and making it all fit under the dash or in the engine compartment can get a little tricky.

A lot of the heavy duty EPAS systems have transformers stepping your voltage up to 50v or so, making that happen safely and reliable is a key factor in a EPAS retrofit success story.

I always liked the challenge though. Maybe ill start toying with this over the weekend to see how feasible it is and post up my thoughts and concerns.

We can always retrofit the 2017 Raptor's EPAS in the older trucks when it is finally released.

So I think I could do a retrofit......it doesn't look like it would be impossible. However, after looking at the time and cost it would take. I just don't personally have the downtime with my truck to figure it all out. My raptor is my daily driver so its making the mod a little to far out of reach for me personally
