Spare replacement

I am going with the goodyear duratracs soon to replace my stock BFGs. Can I keep and use my spare BFG in case of an emergency or should I spend the $$ for the extra spare?

You're fine unless you drive over nails every day. Some people like all five tires to match. Me, a spare is a spare. Just enough to get me to the tire shop.

Main thing is if you go to a different wheel like a method then you will need to carry a set of lugs for your factory spare. Thats what I do.

Just remember that different brand tires have different overall diameters at time.

I think it won't cripple your rig. Just use it to bring your truck to a shop to get the flat tire fixed, and should not be used for long period of time.
