Spacers a good idea?

Controversial issue but I'm thinking of adding 2-3" high-quality spacers to my stock set up. Reason? I like the tires to be out of the body for a more intimidating stance and better protection as well as a bit more roll resistance off-road.

Definitely go with hub centric spacers. I added 1.5" hub centric spacers from BORA to my stock wheel and suspension setup and they are working great, but I did have to do some very minor wheel well trimming in the front to fix minor rubbing issues. I can't say for sure, but a 1" spacer in the front should probably work with no issues. If you go with 2" to 3" spacers, I'm not sure how you would make that work with a stock setup.

I might be biased. I had spacers on a 997 TT for a brief period. The rear one cracked, I was waiting on wheels for it.

I wouldn't do it, but maybe there are quality spacers.

Would it be easier to just mount the wheel backwards (outside face of rim toward engine)?

FWIW, I ran goeske adapters on my 15 F150. They were hubcentric, made of top grade steel, etc etc etc.

Last tire rotation, one adapter had three broke studs. I'm certain it was from over torquing, even though the shop had my specs and knew it was a max 120ft of torque on the adapter studs, somebfiy over torqued and they broke. So just watch your specs and use a calibrated torque wrench.

I ran expensive hub centric wheel spacers on my Polaris RZR and after hard off roading the spacer had noticable damage. Didn't think too much of it and kept running hard and not too far after it shredded off and I dropped a wheel running rough trails. I'd say an offset rim would be a better idea, less disconnected parts held together by bolts.

But if you think about street riding and not much offroading yeah I bet spacers will be ok.

Just remember the truck torns the spacer and then the spacer turns the wheel which is an extra piece that can wear down and fail.

Hey all. Sorry to resurrect an old thread. I need a solution for clearing the RST16 rack. Looks like 3/4 to 1" spacers are going to be the easiest way. Small enough to get away with it?

Spacers are fine if they are quality.

They may be a solution that works and can be used safely, but it's never a good idea.
