Is it? Not by my standards. Brand new truck and it seems like they just benchmarked the old generations of ford and ram to equal. I find it odd that the new generation still falls to third behind the new ram then the 2015 f150. Once The new tundra comes out new year and the new f150, it will be 3 yrs old and last among the half ton truck market... great? I don’t think so mediocre at best.
I have a few friends with Silverados and Sierras and they're great. Almost all half tons nowadays are pretty similar trying to one-up each other on small "upgrades" year to year. A truck is a truck. I'd just choose the one that you like best (visually/handling) because they all have their issues. I also don't get too hung up on towing stats because if you're nearing the max tow/payload limit you might want to step up to a 3/4 ton at that point.
Though I agree with @RDFTS and I would probably go Toyota if I didn't have the Raptor
I don't think you can say a "truck is a truck" in the modern era of endless luxury features, trim packages, options, vastly different styling cues, etc.
Everyone's got their priorities but that's just me. With all the trucks I've been through, I feel that the features and luxury trim are cool at first but you tend to forget about them once you actually start using the vehicle and the "new truck" excitement wears off.
It's not as bad as I thought. I still miss the Raptor though.
note: I realize I am setting myself up for a rash of shit but gotta sleep in the bed i made lol.
