On the way home from dinner the kids spotted somebody doing doughnuts in a big unused parking lot. They wanted me to show them how they should be done. We did some nice ones throwing snow everywhere. Other vehicles all stopped to watch too lol. Then... we thought we smelled rubber burning. When we got home we did a few turns around the front off the property. Really smelled something this time. Pulled up to garage and there was smoke coming out of the hood vents. Jumped out, opened the hood and can't find anything. Smoke cleared in the time it took to bail out and pop the hood. It has smelled hot before, but this was rubber burning smell. It was smoke too, not steam from the snow.
Any suggestions what to check first? Can't see anything out of the ordinary at the moment. No engine overheating, no signs of wires with issues etc..??

you can actually burn your tires in the snow. It happened at the snoball500 too.

Perhaps you had them smoking pretty good and it was trapped under the hood?

I wouldn't worry about it too much, but pick up a WSI Extinguisher mount and then your covered!

That's what they call "smokin' the tires"

Thought about that as I did smell it at the SnoBall too. Just didn't have the smoke. Plus I was in 2 wheel drive so front tires wouldn't be smoking.
I do need to get the extinguisher mounted just in case. Still, makes you worry with a new truck.

Maybe you were kicking snow on to the engine while doing the doughnuts and it was steem you were seeing under the hood and not smoke. I know when I washout my engine bay and start the truck up shortly after this happens.
