I currently have a Snugtop on my 2019 Raptor. I had it Rhino lined and it looks fairly nice. However, today when I was a Custom Trucks in Boise, the owner had a shell on his F250 that I never saw previously. It Is constructed of stainless steel, painted black and appeared to have much more interior space. It is called a Smart Cap EVO Sport.
Without giving it much thought I ordered one and it has an ETA of whenever. That said, I ordered a Snugtop 8/1/2021 and was able to cancel it. The Snugtop also had an unknown ETA. The only downside I could see is the Smart Cap is not carpeted on the interior of the shell, it is black metal, which to me looks fine. However, both side widows as well as the rear window open up completely which would allow my dog to be well vented during training. Does anyone have any experience with the Smart Cap?

It will hold 770 Lbs on the roof, it does not weigh that much. Looking to go this route as from a rack system. Tired of everything getting wet and dirty in the bed.

Makes sense. Their little spec page is a little misleading. I just says "770 pounds strong"

I assume this significantly heavier than a typical fiberglass cap but the idea of being able to sit up on top of it is kinda cool. And the ability to attach racks and accessories to it would be impossible to do with other caps. Seems like the ultimate bed cap. At the ultimate price. But good stuff is never cheap.

edit: did some digging and the '21-22 F150 weight is not out yet but the typical range seems to be 200-250 pounds for most applications. Not bad considering what you get and the fact that even chintzy fiberglass ones weigh in excess of 100 pounds.

Doesn't look like the weight has been released, but the older F150s show at 222 pounds.

The one for my Gen 2 weighs 198 lbs if my memory is correct. With that and my off-roading essentials in the back, I sag with about 400 lbs in the bed. So I put Eibachs up front and Deaver +3 HD in the rear. Wish I had gone with the +4 for when I tow. Given that the Gen 3 has rear coils, it’ll be interesting to see the new spring options. Personally, I think spring replacements are a must in these trucks especially with gear and canopies. This pic was before spring replacement.A5376B1C-E05B-4761-88A1-5C1B6B936C5D.jpeg

A guy on the Tremor forum has a buddy with a Gen 3 Raptor who was moving his cap over from his Gen 2. He said the guy had to put on a new front piece (they come in 5 pieces) that is one inch longer than the original, so that may add a touch more weight given the material increase. Not sure why they did it given that even tonneau covers fit from one generation to the next. My only thought is that RSI has had leaking issues with ones not installed properly, like too close to the cab, and are just trying to get it further over the tailgate.

I don’t have any issues and really happy with my purchase. It’s held up during high speed runs with light jumping. I also like the positive air vent for keeping dust out, some water does get through the vent in drive thru car washes, but not from rain. I really wish the solid side doors with MOLLE webbing were available for this model instead of the glass. The only negative is the latches in the ice, they can be difficult sometimes.

At 200 pounds plus 400 pounds Of tools and “ stuff” I hope eibach comes out with rear springs soon. Either way I will need them with all my crap I put it the truck for hunting trips. The G2 front were like $200 something for my 2020. Should be way cheaper than two sets of Deavers I have bought at $1500 a pair.
