I was thinking about this the other day I have seen a few raptors with the side steps removed and was wondering if anyone has done it and has some pics. I'm a younger guy so I don't mind stepping up a few more inches to the truck.. The one or two that I've seen looked pretty sweet I just don't like the way they hang down so far and I can't really afford new ones like ADD or RPG. I know those sit up against the truck a little more.. Thoughts everyone??

I perfer a side step of some kind, just for the protection it provides from the jerkoffs in the parking lots. Though, I do like the look without the steps. I know I'm not much help here.

BTW-someday your ass is going to get old and your going to need them steps.

Netix has his side steps removed and the truck looks bigger and taller without them.

I ran without mine for about a year.

As was mentioned, not having a step may not bother you and it didn't bother me at all. But it was a bit troublesome for my wife when not in her boots (think hi heels) and my mom who I would give a ride to every once in a while (elderly).

Also, you're going to find mud/road debris gets thrown literally everywhere. I never suffered any rock chips, but it was kind of a bummer to grab your door handle and find it totally caked/covered in mud. Here's a mild example of what I mean:

And it was views like this that convinced me I needed to rethink that decision:

I ended up going with Hefty Fabworks sliders. I didn't want something that bolted to the bodywork; I wanted something that could take the hit of a rock like that ^^ and not bend, taking the body work its bolted to with it. I also wanted a hi lift jack point, which bolt ons would NOT be.

Here's my thread on all that: http://www.fordraptorforum.com/f5/sliders-skid-plates-oh-my-warning-pic-heavy-9665/

Yea I don't plan on running without them for long. Like you said big J I want something solid that's why I'm leaning towards RPG's setup that bad boy is on there bolted to the frame! I don't play in the mud veryuch way to much to clean afterwards haha it gets everywhere underneath.

AMP Research steps. Looks like they aren't there, until you open the door.

Those are pretty sweet but man are they expensive haha and not really what I'm looking for I want more of a slider than a step like big J said something you can beat to hell and not worry about it and as a jack point too
