If you’re referring to an idler arm, these trucks are rack and pinion. So no idler, pitman, drag link, etc.Thanks man. Yeah I know the feeling of shutting off mid-highway. Really stressful. I'm glad it didn't happen on a turn.
I'll take the truck to Ford after I do the fuse 27 relocation. Hopefully the issue with the steering is a simple one. Maybe a bad idler. Will see.

Excessive power steering whine is typically a failing pump or a leak causing fluid aeration. Be sure they actually diagnose it and don’t just throw parts. If they make any repairs to it, be sure the reservoir is replaced as it contains the fluid filter. It’s also highly recommended to use Motorcraft parts; the parts from the local parts stores are mostly cheaply built/rebuilt junk.
