SCT on MacBook

How is everyone running their SCT tunes (Windows) on their Mac products? I can buy a toshiba w/ Windows 8 for $200 or run parallels with my old copy of xp.

Recommendations?

There is a lot of info on running Windows and iOS on a Mac.
I believe they're are threads on Apple's forum as well.

Would be easier to get a cheap designated PC I would think. Never liked running parallels.

I figured as much, I would just call SCT.
They do mention OSX and iOS on their website.

SCT Performance - More Power! Less Fuel!

Zinger: for the less than 1% that have a working Mac. LOL
And it's one hell of a way to waste money for an iTunes organizer.

Oracle VirtualBox is free and easy. Winblows will be contained to a single file, so no worries "polluting" your Mac. PM me if you need help. No way I would keep a dedicated machine around for loading tunes, but that's just me. (Might also be able to run SCT's software under wine - google wine project.)

Have you done this to update an SCT device from an OSX device?

Parallels and XP. Have not be enable to update my X3 device. Can't seem to get thru the whole process.

I'd like to know if anyone has made this work.

I had problem with windows 8 on laptop. Couldn't get it too consistently connect and saving the config onto device. It works way better to directly connect laptop and datalog off of that.

I asked support about it when I was going to load a VM on my Mac and they recommended only using win 7. I think the quote was "if you use win 8 you will just be calling me back soon to deal with the driver mess"
