This is why they do their initial inspection of your car/truck before taking it back for service. I would have them fix it unless they identified it on their inspection sheet which I bet they didn't.

Yeah they are gonna fix it, or i will become a huge huge problem for them. My concern is the fix itself being that the fender is composite. Have to wait and see.

Could almost see it as belt buckle rash if a tech was laying over the fender for some reason.

I noticed a crack in the paint on the driver side fender yesterday. I just washed it for the first time, it's only a week old. It's in the very front where the fender starts to roll down toward the headlight. I'm going to contact ford customer service and see what they say. i'm positive it's due the fender being made of composite material and cracking underneath the paint itself.

Supposed to get clear bra installed next week. I'm wondering if the clear bra will help prevent the paint from peeling up and getting worse. I can live with it as it sits right now. I can barely notice it. But if it gets worse....... then it's a whole different story.

I just talked to the GM of the dealership I bought from and I'm bringing it back in this weekend so they can look closer at it. Try going through your dealership first, might be easier. They are motivated to make it right, so for now I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

I don't know if this is the cause but I'll throw it out there anyway.

Is the CQuartz ceramic coating flexible enough for the fiberglass composite hood/fenders could it have cracked?

Are the cracks near an area that may have expanded/contracted in the sun at the dealer?

I actually ran out of Cquartz and didn't get to the front fenders or hood, so definitely not that.
Could be heat related.

Once I took my truck off-road I realized scratches don't matter anymore.

Take your truck in the dirt get a few scratches having fun and you won't be so upset over a small scratch by the hood. It's a truck enjoy it for what it is, not a show car.

I wish the same was true for me. Getting scratches only made me much more OCD. Scratches aren't so bad as they almost always buff out with a good amount of clear left. Paint chips tho...

I know Slick said those areas were not Quartzed, but Larry Kostilla of AMMO NYC was concerned enough about that his own coating, Reflex, is specifically designed to expand/contract with the paint. Does it make much difference? Probably not.

So the dealership agrees that they are indeed cracks in the finish. The GM has approval from Ford to have the fender repainted. My problem with this is that I have a brand new truck with a mistake in the factory finish and after the proposed fix I will have a brand new truck that already has a repainted panel. I don't think I have any other option here. What a shit sandwich.

Only other choice would be to have them try and just repaint that small area and blend it into the rest of the panel but that never seems to go well. Any advice?

Have them paint it, if it's not right get on them to fix it, don't fear the paint.

^ i don't see what the issue is? Ford is stepping up and offering to re paint the fender, sounds stand up to me. At the end of the day it's just a truck from Ford not a Bugatti.

The world is full of flaws, it's easier to just live life and have less worry about the small things.
