I got some gnarly scratches while off-roading last week, yes I lost sleep over it. Have no fear though, I devised a method using only common store bought paint products I already had in my detail kit and a 6" random orbital buffer. No special tools or materials needed...

1. Meguars Fine Cut Cleaner, medium pressure 6-8 passes or until dry with a foam applicator bonnet.
2. Meguiars Swirl Remover with a terry cloth bonnet, light pressure, 2-3 passes.
3. Meguiars Ultimate Polish Glaze, medium pressure with foam bonnet, 4-6 passes DO NOT ALLOW TO DRY.
4. Finish with AutoGlym HD wax, applied with a foam applicator bonnet.

I realize #2 and #3 are quite redundant but the glaze actually did take out some remaining light swirls and really made the metal flake pop out.

I've got a couple of scratches in mine and I used the stuff I got from show car detail but it didn't take out the scratches. Polish/ glaze/ wax.. Should I use that fine cut stuff?

the swirl remover 2.0 is pretty ballsy stuff too. it worked toward hiding the scratch also.

the one I have is about 4" long and right on the drivers door, so I have to look at that sucker every day.
I'll be happy when it's gone.

some are too deep for this method. u might need some actual polishing rouge and a rotary.
