Nobody wants a scab huh? OK then let the games begin shall we?Personally......makes zero sense to pay essentially the same dough for a truck that will be tougher to sell/trade since the majority of people want more space, why wouldn’t you? Seriously- not even sure why this is ever a debate, the looks of one vs the other is really not drastic & the only thought that crosses my mind when I see a scab truck is “that’s a lot of money to pay for a vehicle that size & not get a full size rear”
it’s like getting one of those 2 door explorer sports back in the day- why?
Let’s sacrifice a shit load of range, a good deal of space, 2k lbs of towing ability & a knock on resale value so I can have an oddball locking truck that’s easier to park....
I had an extended cab GM truck before w/ the suicide doors, why? Cuz at the time I saved a good amount of $$ b/c nobody wanted em & I didn’t have kids, w/ the raptor nobody wants em (almost nobody) but you ain’t gonna get one for any real discount.
Take a few corners in Sport mode. You’ll be real surprised.

Not everyone needs a grocery getter and are dragging rug rats around to soccer practice
I agree but I think that trucks in general are on a different basis for handling especially off-road oriented trucks. I mean there have been maybe two trucks ever that had arguably “good” handling in the grand scheme of things (ram srt 10 and the lowered & supercharged Tacoma (forget the name)), but even still they were good compared to the lineup you mentioned. Trucks are never going to handle as well especially with 13” of travel and any kind of ground clearance. It would be more in tune to say that raptors handle far better than you would expect out of a truck of that size and capability, but not good in a fully objective eye.lol COME ON - here’s the deal, I think what people perceive as good handling in the raptor is really just surprisingly communicative steering from a truck that’s unexpected given it’s size & tire setup, but it’s mostly artificial- all of it- you actually look at skid pad numbers, 60-0 braking, & try some last second high speed jerky maneuvers & you’ll be greeted w/ the realization that the raptor is, in fact, quite literally & irrefutably one of the worst handling vehicles on the road today lol!!!
Hop in an M2, Civic-R, S2000, GT350, 1LE camaro, GS vette, cayman-s, etc. & blast around for a while then tell me the words “good handling” & “raptor” belong in the same stratosphere.
The scab will always be the “original raptor”. Off-road the smaller size is definitely helpful and the better break over angle can keep you from having some teeth clenching sounds come out from under your truck. Arguably the scab also looks better. If it’s not your thing that’s fine but to say it has no place is a bit of a stretch. It’s a better truck off-road, but the majority of raptors won’t be used off-road all that often if ever. For an over landing build the screw probably makes more sense(depending on where you’re going) but for most other instances the scab will be better suited. The way I view it is a lot like manual transmissions in non sports cars. It might not be the most practical thing for day to day use, but it’s kinda cool and can enable some fun.i don’t come up w/ the #s bro if people wanted em that bad Ford would produce more...not drop it entirely from the lineup lol!!
yeah I’ll take my “grocery getter” Raptor offroad overlanding, you bring your extra 10 gallons of gas in the bed & worry bout having enough room for comfort & gear in the cab.
I don’t get why this is such a heated debate, it makes no sense to me on an obviously utilitarian vehicle to give up such drastic “capability” for no gain & no real cost savings- again, 2k less towing, 30% less cab volume, barely any lighter, & need to fill up nearly twice as much.
sweet
where do I sign up lol
