Salt on the Moon?? W T H?

I assume you are around Vegas, or likely east or northeast of Vegas, as you seem to post a lot from those areas? If so, you are likely in the upper geologic section of the Colorado Plateau. That white looks like Kaibab Limestone, you can lick if you want, there isn't anything in the rock that would hurt you, but it likely won't have a salt taste, just sort of chalky.
If you are somewhere else, let me know where and may be able to identify your area and the geologic stratigraphy.

The area featured here is north of Page AZ, on the edge of the Grand Staircase Escalante
