I got my RPG raceline bumpers yesterday and installed them this morning. very easy and straight forward install. {snip}

=========================================================

Pat, I also just installed a RPG Raceline front bumper and the spacers you refer to that you trimmed to fit actually should stay the length they were sent to you. I wondered the same thing but if you slide them into the box section of the bumper they fit snugly. I used a 1" drill bit to enlarge the holes to fit the spacer. The spacer you cut when fitted into the holes will be flush with the outside of the frame rail. If you notice the holes are slightly recessed, so when you tighten the bolts you will not deform the frame rail. Your bumper looks great!!

actually you want them to sit flush. Corey made this very clear when he was walking me trough the install. If you don't the tube might hit the bumper when you slide it on.

I didn't trim my tubes either as in my mind it didn't make sense to being that it is recessed like JimT said. I could be wrong?? I just watched the frame cut video and shotgun'd the rest of the install. But it does appear the frame and bumper mount would crush inward as you tighten the bolt. It did fit very tight (it was a bitch) over the tube, but I considered it normal after market bumper install hurdles.

Did you try reinstalling your tow hooks? I reinstalled mine which I found out the spacing for the holes in the bumper are way off and need to be re drilled to make it work. Not sure if it was just my bumper that was off or if all of them are spec'd wrong.

The frame of the bumper won't flex that much to crush the frame of the truck with them sitting flush. My bumper wouldn't slide on without trimming the tubes down a little and yea like you said it was a right fit which I don't mind at least you know it's snug on there and isn't going anywhere. With the way the bumper attachment is boxed around the frame ends I doubt it'll deform the frame any.

Pirate I didn't reinstall the tow hooks I didn't have them on with my ADD bumper either lol they're somewhere in my shed. But I figured the attachment holes would have to be relocated.

Great write-up, Patrick. Does this bumper come with a support for the trim piece in between the grille and the bumper?

Thanks kaiser!!

No there isn't any kind of support for the lower grill part but I'm gonna try and fab something up and figure out how to support that piece. Mine has been unsupported for over 2 years now even when I had my ADD bumpers on and you can kinda see it sagging in the middle in the pictures. It doesn't really bother me too much but I'm thinking that after a while it might get worse over time. But I will make sure to post what I come up with on a support for the lower grill fairing for the rest of the guys with this problem!

Pirate the holes on the bottom of mine are "off" as well for remounting the tow hooks. I did not remount mine but it would be nice if RPG would adjust the holes so we could remount the hooks if we wanted to. :cheers:

I'll have to look maybe it's an easy fix to mount them. Like I said mine weren't on when I had my ADD bumper so I didn't think to check the holes for the RPG one either ill post up here what I find and let you guys know and ill shoot Corey a text and see if he knows of a way to get them lined up better or what we need to do to get them on there!
