I like the Outlaw raptor design, especially because of their foward canted bump can mount. It follows the arc radius of the spring. Also Outlaws seems to have more clearance between the spring and bump can mount. Is there any need to have more clearance ?
What thickness material and what material is this bracket made of ? Thanks
Rat,
If you are to look at a true sideview of our mount, you will notice the airbump can is mounted at an angle to follow the curvature of the springs as they cycle through the wheel travel. This curveture is determined by a relationship between the frame and the shackle to create the arch independent of the spring thats used providing the true length of the spring has not been changed.
With regards to clearance, In testing we have dertmined that all four leaf springs (National Springs , Deavers ,OEM Raptor and OEM F-150 leafs) have adequate clearance between the spring and the airbump mount. Unecessary amounts of clearence yields a weaker assembly.
Because of the development costs of the braces, we are not at liberty to disclose material thickness. However we can disclose there is more than 3x's the thickness of the OEM frame.
The steel used has an ultimate strength of 80,000psi. What does this mean to you guys? It is multiple times stronger than the frame itself.
Thank you for you questions. I would be happy to let you hold and see the bracket for yourself to have a better understanding of what we are producing. Also, if you would ever like to meet up in Barstow for a demo, please let me know so we can arrange that.
Thanks,
Jarrett
