Aren’t they the same engines minus a slightly different piston in each? I thought the Raptor was tuned up for marketing and the base F150 tunes for reliability and to keep it ahead of the pack. In a nutshell, the regular F150 just has that much more room left over in the tuning department.

the raptor engine is closer to the GT engine than the f150 ecoboost. the f150EB engine has different heads, ecm, injection, cam tensioners, oil pump, pistons, rods and crank. and that's just off the top of my head. The raptor is a DI/PI engine only the second ford to have this. The first was the GT which is where we got the head design and injection system from. That makes our pistons completely different from the f150. (you may have to learn yourself up on how DI/PI systems work in relation to piston shape) We also have a much larger crank than the f150 EB and oil squirters. Oh and all 3 variants of the EB use substantially different turbos and manifolds.

Bottom line? throw new turbos on the raptor and make a lot of power safely.

Want a big power f150 on a budget? put a raptor crank and pistons in it first. Then find some bigger turbos.
