If you have the Whipple "Upgraded" Heat Exchanger unit then this does not apply to you. The Factory Roush and Whipple Heat exchangers that come in the Supercharger kits are decent enough to support the added heat from a Supercharger. However sitting in traffic, spirited driving ;), or warmer climate conditions will quickly heat up your Intake Air Temperature. This will negatively affect your truck's performance and promote a greater chance of detonation which can lead to engine failure! AFCO offers two Raptor Heat Exchanger upgrades. They are esentially the same Heat Exchanger but one comes with option of Dual cooling fans. The Dual fans are beneficial for anyone who does in city driving where you get traffic or limited air flow to the front grill. Also if you race your Raptor at the drag strip or off-road, you can cool the truck down quickly in between runs with the engine off but the fan and intercooler pump circulating by running key on or installing a manual switch. So for most trucks the fans may just be a novelty but for others a very worth while upgrade! Do they make different sizes?

This is what Afco currently offers as a part numbered kit for the Raptor trucks. If you call them directly they may be able to make a custom size if needed.

Is the fan setup pushing or pulling?

The picture you have up does not show fans.

I have the Upgraded Whipple HD HE already but I sure would like to change the fans from pushers to pulling.
I believe pulling would be much more efficient to help aid the air to push through the radiator.
I don't see much room behind there and bracket mods would have to be done to push the HE further towards the grill, not much room there either.

Any suggestions?

I'm sure the fans are pushing air onto the heat exchanger that is how most units work. You would not want the fans pulling while driving down the road. It will make the air pass through the Heat Exchanger too fast. You would rather air being forced onto the unit from both directions. If the fans were in front of the heat exchanger that would create blockage.

I forgot to mention I have my fans hooked up to the 4th uplifter switch, I haven't turn them on in weeks, now that it's cold. LOL

I do understand what your saying.
But I also want to tell you my observation the past couple of years.
In the summer sitting in traffic even with the HD HE with fans, it will climb up to almost as high as having the fans off.
What I see is that once the fans push the air threw the HD HE it just bounces of the two smaller stock HE and the radiator,
then gets recirculated back in front of the HE.
This is one of the reasons I have the engine temp set to 180 so the radiator fan jump on sooner as well.
This has help a great deal in traffic and hot days!!!
You can check that yourself by turning on the HE fans and with the engine off try to feel for air coming through the radiator. There's none to very little.
And if you feel around the backside edge of the HD HE the air blowing out hard.

I just wish I could get a 160 setting for the radiator fans but the Tuner won't do it till I get dyno time.

Interesting I will have to check it out, we are installing a Whipple kit with the HD HE and fans today. Right now it is soo cold, its probably wise to have the fans hooked up to a switch as well. Be careful going too low on the fan settings you don't want the engine to stay too cool as it will affect fueling tables. Probably why your Tuner wants to wait for the dyno.

I am thinking out loud now, I would like to see a 180 thermostat like I'm running now for the winter, and have the radiator fans set to 160.
This way it can warm up correctly and then keep the HD HE cold when driving.
Or just leave the stock 195 Thermostat in with the radiator fans at 160, if having the engine at 195 is the best temperature.

I have a Youtube video showing how affective the radiator fans are when sitting and it's 87 out and a 160 thermostat.
It's 4 minutes long but skip through it you can see how low it gets the truck and with the HD HE off and turning them on doesn't really make much of a difference.

That warning you hear is from the Torque Pro App on an Android Phone and the Ambient Air Temp is displaying an error.
This is because I've been switching tunes several times that day with out doing the battery disconnect and glitches do occur if you don't perform a PCM reset.

Maybe the extra fans should be placed in front of the engine radiator, this would pull the air through the SC HE and push it through the engine HE
