Bubba rope is my choice. Tow straps and chains are made for towing. You need something that stretches. The truck in the second video is about 6,000 lbs, which is about the same as the raptor. I'm sure there are other ropes that work well also but I got the bubba rope and it works well. Good investment in my opinion.

In my opinion you need both: a recovery rope and a tow strap!
I pulled a truck out from a precarious position with a tow strap and it was hard on both trucks.
But if you need to tow your buddies truck for miles back to civilization, a recovery rope would be almost impossible to live with.

Doubling any one strap divides the load over the two sides. So no there is no risk because you double over a strap. However if you tie it to a sharp edge it cuts very easy. Physics would tell us that if you divide the load accross two legs of the strap it essentially doubles the strap strength. This does not mean that a 20,000 pound rated strap can pull 40,000 look at the load tested, 20,000 pounds single or 20,000 pounds double load.... The overall length of the strap is not what gives it is load rating but the ability to break or fail at the weakest link.... Just an observation... I have found often a combination of straps ropes and chains will make the job at hand easier...

Don't get a silly little 20 x 2. Do yourself a favor and get a 30 x 4. I take my rigging equipment seriously. Unless your getting a 2x, 3x, or 4x "multiple ply" Kevlar strap then you might be able to get away with a dinky little 2" wide strap. I'd personally get a 30 x 4 4ply Kevlar strap with looped ends. Over kill on that kind of shit is way safer in my opinion. I can personally tell you how fun it is to be hit by a broken chain link or what happens when a cable breaks. I take rigging very seriously. If you value life, you will too. If you want to double the strap and are worried about "cutting" the strap, WreckMaster is a very well known company that make what's called a buckle that's pretty neat technology that doesn't hurt the strap to double it. There are strap shackles too if you need them. And if you want to go with th chain route, do not go below a grade 80 chain and make sure it is made in the USA. And anyone that try's to tell me that there is no difference in what country makes chains, I'll be happy to show you what a USA chain and a China made chain are capable of. I have all 1/2" grade 100 chain on my wrecker. I know what I've used each chain for. If you feel that you have compromised the ratings in any of your rigging equipment, save your life and or someone else's and throw it away. It's not worth it.

Agreed. I always carry both.

I know it's not the safe way to do things but I prefer tow straps & slings with a proper sized clevis on the frame as opposed to the "kinetic/stretch" recovery type of rope. The give that the recovery ropes offer also (in my exp) makes it hard to get heavy trucks *like the raptor* unstuck from deep mud/snow/adverse terrain etc. I used to reduce time out in the field with stuck MRAP's & HMMWV'S. The best way is with a tow bar but obviously that is not applicable in the real world.
