Hey guys, we have recently purchased a Tepui tent (Autana 4) for the truck and we are exploring our rack options. Ideally we would prefer a bed rack that can be mounted on our bed cover. But we are also considering roof racks as an option. I understand that Yakima Overhaul HD should fit our needs but I am slightly concerned with the 500lbs load capacity as the tent alone weighs 240lbs. Is this something that I need to be concerned about?

I would also love to hear you guys' opinions on alternatives and pictures definitely help! Thanks in advance!

The 500 lbs load capacity is a dynamic rating for on road, I think it drops to 300 for Offroad dynamic and perhaps mire if you are using the adapters for a tonneau. I think the static load (tent plus occupants) is much higher.

Aggressive off-road will likely break most if not all of these systems. The left to right movements are harsh off-road, and with a load on top, I believe that you are asking for trouble. I have a RTT on a Yakima Overhaul, on a Retrax PRO. I’ll leave the RTT off the rack for day to day, only putting it on when I’m going camping. And then I’ll drive easy off-road.

the bed on the gen2 raptors is aluminum and is designed to flex and move. Adding a rack and RTT to this will create sheer points and opportunities to tear the aluminum if you are pre-running or doing any fast dirt time.

It really is not different than the guys that have destroyed their beds with the "light tower" style chase racks that bolt to the bedrails.

i have a 2019 screw and mounted the leitner designs acs rack.
it also has static 500#, dynamic 300#. you’re unlikley to find more.
i run an ikamper skycamp (highly recommend hard shells!!). leitner has many benefits, namely its modular 4 sided t tracks.
they also have a full range of high lift mounts, rotopack mounts and a great gear locker. i’ll upload pics of mine.
i will say that i had to get a different set of tent to rack mounts, as ikamper assumes you’re using aero bars, and leitners are a 2” square tube.
another benefit is no bed rail drilling.
but, not sure if you can use it and use a tonnaue cover...
lastly, i am big fan of upgrading the ability of my truck to be the utility toy that it is.
i don’t do cobb tunes, etc (though they make good products), as there is always some level of engine issues and, of course, voided warranties!
have fun!

I was shopping for a bed rack since I got my Raptor back in ‘17. I narrowed down to two rack systems (1) Leitner and Nuthouse industries. Both are excellent racks but they are on the pricey side after you finished adding all of their goodies. Nuthouse will custom make their rack for your needs. But again it’s going to cost you. So I have my custom made by a local metal fabricator who’s also a friend of my. It came out exactly the way I wanted it. I have posted some pictures of the process.

I went with the KB Voodoo Max Modular aluminum rack. It was one of the few that still allowed my Retrax tonneau cover to function. It holds my CVT tent without a problem. I'd highly recommend it if you're looking to use a tonneau cover with the rack.

I forgot to mention that I also have the bed rack made to sit onto my Pace Edward Ultragroove rolling cover. I had a iKamper RTT on it for two trips and had no problems at all but I know if I go and do some aggressive off-roading this whole set up going to fall apart due to all the flexing of the bed. Camping and light off roads it’s excellent.
