it will definitely upgrade the sound in your truck, but how much and is it worth it is up to you. it all depends on what sound upgrades you are looking for.

anyone know anything about this?

Also, I contacted Rockford Fosgate and it seems this system is something that American Trucks threw together, not a direct "OEM" swap like the Gen 1's Kicker Soundstage (I think that's what it was called) system.
