They didn't ditch Clarkson...they all left Top Gear and now do The Grand Tour, which is better on most, if not all, fronts.

The three were hired by Amazon for 3 seasons, and they are negotiating on what the next project is.

Season 4 of the Grand Tour has been confirmed for awhile. They just aren't doing the tent stuff anymore. There were a few episodes (notably the RV one with the Class 4 racing) that served as a test for the new format, and they were among the best in the series so far.
