The BCM uses logic to determine what is happening with its outputs. The problem with LED's is there isn't enough current draw for the logic to think that the light is on. The Supplier (Lear in this case) could in theory change the threshold that the SPI's are looking for to determine if it is on or off. Ford and the NTSB isn't going to let this happen. Its not the ECU that is controlling the lights its the BCM. So a tune can't change that.

You more than likely refer to it as your fuse box on the passanger floor well of the truck.

All outputs are monitored in "Counts". We will say that 1000 counts is full current draw/1 is off. When the software is first setup per the engineers the counts are really light. Something around 1-10 is off but anything over will flag the software thinking there is an activation of an output that isn't called for. What ends up happening is the more testing that is done on the module the more these tolerances open up. How far all depends on what the output is and how that circuit on the PCB is laid out/susceptible.

Anyhow in short the software can't tell the difference between an open and LED's because they don't draw any current. The difference is probably something like 3-5 counts. The threshold for the hyper flash is probably set around 300 counts.

That makes sense..so how does one fix the problem without Ford changing the tolerances?

Have a chip in the LED that tricks the computer?

Wouldn't that be nice.
Jason?
Anything out there that you could think of to trick the computer besides my system?

How about looking at using the sequential flasher setup from a late model Mustang.

Ford+LED+Raptor=????

The Mustang uses a module that does this. Its a add on basically to the BCM. AMV module I believe is what its called. It also does a few other functions as well. I do not believe that it would be a simple plug and play added to the F-150 BCM.

If my company maded the F-150 BCM's I would do a bit of experimentation but we do not. We do how ever design and make many other Ford BCM's and ECU's.
