Retrofit of tailgate with tailgate release? Can I add it as my 801A package does not release the tailgate, as I have no FOB. Then add it to a switch in the cab to do the actual release?

It looks like a $80 part on the Ford site, so I assume all the wiring is there. Are wiring diagrams available?

Delco . . .
What part?

Ford isn't going to include all of what you need for this in your tailgate if you didn't order the option.

Latest Update, I have my Raptor with a 801a package and was able to open up the panel in the tailgate and look at the parts.

First, it takes a t25 to get 8 screws out, and lift the panel off. (Below)

Then I can see whats in a 801a without tailgate release (below)

Then I found a friend with a 2017 F150 with the tailgate release so here is that (below)

It has a white sticker with Ford Part number fl34 99431f94 DC which if you search the internet costs $44 and free shipping

So I need to VERIFY this part number, can someone with a 2018 Raptor that has the tailgate release, use a t25 taking out the 8 screws and post a picture or verify they have that same sticker with Ford Part number fl34 99431f94 DC on it?

Nice work! You might try looking it up over at tascaparts.com. They have pretty detailed parts information and see if the 2018 Raptor part # matches your friends part number...I'm betting it will and would be faster than waiting for anyone to remove their tailgate cover panel. I'd help you out, but mine is not arriving until next month. If it comes to it, I have a friend with a 2018 Tundra who just added an aftermarket version of that same part that wires into the door lock release circuit so all unlocks with the FOB/doors. Of course the Ford OEM would be best...good luck and great mod!!

Keep in mind that the Ford system has a separate button on the key fob for the tailgate release, (at lest my 2016 King Ranch did) so you either need to get an updated key FOB (and not sure what it would entail to get that to work - could be FOREScan change?) or just wire it in with the door lock circuit (like the generic aftermarket unit) and set it so one press opens just the driver's door lock and two presses opens all doors and tailgate...

And, last but not least, there's a guy on this forum who is selling a remote wiring kit for the 802a trucks so you can wire an Aux switch to open the tailgate from inside the cab...can't recall his user name right now but he might be able to shed some light on how the Ford tailgate lock/release system works...

Yes I am trying to use this guys release scheme on my truck, just need to put the right part in first.

Looks like there are wires so thats the next item to check.

No luck finding that part or a diagram on the tascparts web site.

Yea, my buddy with the 2018 Tundra had to run wires up under the frame to firewall then into cab near glove box and terminating in fuse box under passenger side kick panel...it's pretty slick, now he can lock/unlock with door lock buttons on key fob...but it doesn't "pop" and lower like the Ford OEM tailgate release does.
