Hey everyone. Curious if anyones had a similar issue with a Retrax. I have reached out to customer support but figured I’d try here too.

Basically the passenger side of mine retracts into the canister after a short drive about 3/4” but the driver side stays nice and tight. Here’s two videos showing what’s going on. Yes, it is installed perfectly square and level. Unfortunately I think it’s a design flaw with only the driver side actually latching…thoughts?

Upload didn't work, here's a link to the videos on my google drive: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/10OQurq928hmJD280aRKlZDj_hfvh3Rxt?usp=sharing

Looks like it locks on driver Side. With the passenger side not locked it can move within the tolerance of the channel itself. Haven’t tried it on mine but seems to be the case.

Can't tell, is it a Retrax Pro with locks on both sides? Mine was doing that (pro) and was out of alignment so passenger lock was not catching. Rails had to be adjusted in, not sure if both or one side as local shop adjusted mine. BTW looks like nice setup inside, willing to post some detailed photos? Still working on bed setup, installed BuiltRight Molle today.

You need to adjust the locking mechanism on the passenger side. If you look what happens when you latch the lock you will understand. There is a claw on each side, the one on the passengers side is just not engaging and this is why this is happening. I'll get a picture of mine here in a minute.

okay I just watched your second video - you are missing an entire piece on the passenger side - see my pic below.

So you see the plastic cylinder sticking out? YOu have that piece - what seems to be missing on yours is the latch part that has the screw coming out of it, that is the 'claw' i mentioned. That part drops down when the lock is released allowing the cover to slide. When you latch the lock in any position, that claw grabs on the the underside of the unit and holds it in place - seems you are missing the entire piece.

Yea that’s exactly what’s happening, but it shouldn’t be sucking in 3/4” which is enough to create a wide open gap for water to get in. The driver side only has like 1/4” play tops but that at least stays sealed.

Wtf. Kinda frustrating Retrax didn’t ask the right questions to realize this first. I just swapped both the rails today and apparently that wasn’t necessary.

If you have a min could you take a few more pics of the underside going all the way across? Curious just how much hardware I’m missing down there cause there’s nothing that could tie into a latch on the passenger side. What model is yours?

It’s a One XR. So there’s only a button/lock on the driver side. But looking at @nikhsub1 ’s pics it appears there’s supposed to be a locking mechanism on the passenger side that’s triggered by using the driver side.

I’ll snap some pics tomorrow of the setup though when it’s light outside.
