BMW is also missing from that list...

Just wanted to further clarify. BMW was missing from that list intentionally, as they don't even make a V6. Being a company that prides itself on selling the ultimate driving machine, they would never make such a compromise. Guys, the whole reason the V6 exists is that it's the most efficient engine layout for front wheel drive sedans. Think Honda Accord.

Yep. Ford sold you a Honda Accord motor. You got snookered. We told you that the 3.5 was just a stop gap until a real motor was ready. And of course part of their marketing plan was to hype the shit out of it in order to put a halo on the ecoboost program. And you fell for it. We warned you but you fell for it anyway.

Once word about the 7.0 really gets out there, it is going to be very hard to sell one of these things. You should consider dumping them now.

When someone comes back a day later to add to his argument, the word "obsession" springs to mind.

I had an email notification that I had been quoted here. And when someone has to resort to personal attacks instead of debating the facts, you know they have no argument.

You've been eating paint chips again, haven't you? You do realize that the first mass-produced FWD car (the Oldsmobile Toronado) was *gasp* V8 powered, right?

Look, I've said before and I'll say again... I dearly love the sound and driving characteristics of a good V8 (there are plenty of ****** ones out there, don't kid yourself)... but there are a couple of things to note here:

  • The 6.2L was nothing special in either sound or output
  • The 7.0L, IF it ever makes its way into the Raptor, isn't likely to be anything special in sound or output; it, like the 6.2L, is simply an HD gas motor

So, you have issued a challenge to the GenII crowd... what are we going to do if a V8 Raptor is released and it makes more power/torque than the HO EB? I have a similar question for you... what are you going to do if that doesn't happen? Either the V8 Raptor doesn't return, or it does return and makes less power/torque or is slower than the HO EB? Are you going to cry? Get mad and throw things? Go see a therapist? Complain about how it isn't fair? Admit you were wrong and own it like a man? I know which of those options I won't be putting money on...

What if Ford puts a blown/turbo'd V8 in the Raptor and prices it at $80k+?

And? Please explain what your point is.

I'm very happy with mine. It's making well over 700 horse with a Whipple. Not sure how much more anyone could expect out of a factory longblock.

I'm sorry that you feel like a better engine coming along is a challenge to your manhood. That's really odd. Perhaps you should see a therapist about that.

For me, this is simple. If the 7.0 happens, I will buy one. If it doesn't, I'll be looking for other options when I'm in the market for a new toy. For example, I could buy a Platinum with the 5.0 and mod the suspension to Raptor+ specs. Like the 6.2, they make around 750 horse with the Whipple.

My point is that if you're going to say that the V6 only exists to support FWD configurations, then you must also say the same of the V8.

So, you had to invest $7k+ in it in order to make it something special?

It's not a challenge to my manhood at all... you're the one who seems insecure about the fact that the V6 in the GenII outpowers the V8 in the GenI.

So, in other words, no, you won't admit you were wrong and own it like a man. Got it. Color me surprised.

no matter what ford does to the Raptor in gen 3, the gen 1 will always be the bench mark for all other gens. its a classic, unsurpassed in style and performance. I really feel sorry for the gen 2+ crowd, you overpaid for an f150 and now come here trashing the gen 1 crowd who set the standard for all gens to follow. yes, there will be more gens to come, but you blew your *** on a V6.
RAPTERRIER seems the rabies meds worked. good puppy.

Unsurpassed in style and performance... hmmm. Style is a matter of taste. I happen to think that both the GenI and GenII trucks look good. As far as performance, that is NOT a matter of taste, and as I recall, the only ways in which the GenII doesn't surpass the performance of the GenI is in braking, max payload, and rated towing capacity (where it simply matches the GenI). In every other performance measure, the GenII outperforms the GenI.

So... will you please explain in what way the GenII is an "underperforming F150"?

I totally agree with this. It's what the jerkers have been doing for months now as they've been losing every single argument but the sound, OH THAT V8 SOUND...

There's no logic there, my friend. A 90 degree V8 isn't a good fit in a front engine, front drive sedan. It's too wide and too long. That's why they are extremely uncommon. A 60 degree V6 is a good fit in a front drive sedan. That's why they are so incredibly common. Fact.

So, you had to invest $7k+ in it in order to make it something special?

We are all here to mod our vehicles. And $7k isn't exactly a big investment.

So, in other words, no, you won't admit you were wrong and own it like a man. Got it. Color me surprised.

Bro, for starters, I'm not the one who printed this article that got your ******* all in a ***. I do think they will put a V8 back in the Raptor, though. But are we really having a debate about my future reaction to a future event? Why does that even matter? I already told you what I will do in either scenario. Isn't that the important thing and not how I will feel about it? What do feelings have to do with this? I won't have any feelings about it. I will go on with my life making rational and logical decisions.

I suppose what you are really getting at is that if they don't put a V8 in, you will want an apology from me for upsetting you in your V6 safe space?

You Jennies really are so emotional and weird.
