On my Harley truck, I had the python 2-way and added remote window roll down feature, was awesome but unless your trying to start your truck in a desert a mile away looking at it, Worthless. When my alarm did go off, it rarely sent back alerts letting me know what transpired. Most of the time i would go to get in my truck and the alarm would chirp 3 times letting me know yet still no alert! Even 200 feet away, in a building NADA. after having that alarm for 2 years, brain failed and left me stranded. ALL OUT OF MY POCKET EXPENSE towing, ect.. Brought it back to the place and they tried selling me a new alarm bc the one I originally bought was discontinued and said it was user fault. Yea, ended up purchasing another alarm and paid for another install with a bs discount.
Aftermarket alarms, Not for me. Most of the crooks done wired up many aftermarket alarms which are pretty much all universal. I feel better knowing it be a harder time for them to know a brand new trucks alarm. if my truck was a rolling safe then I can understand spending that money again. OEM remote starts comes with a long range built in which is more than perfect for me.

well the way I see it I have to spend the money either way. So if the aftermarket is better I'll go that way since it doesn't have one from the factory.

here, on frf
dont let a few peoples negative opinions change your mind. out of the hundereds of thousands of aftermarket security systems sold each day, theres bound to be a few bad/defective products. its the way electronics work. most of which can be traced back to installer error.

The Viper 5901 I had in my 2010 SCAB was awesome. Range was ridiculous compared to the pitiful "long-range" 200 series OEM starter I have now. In all likely hood I'll rip out the OEM and install aftermarket at some point and suck up the negatives (lack of OEM style integration) and bask in my long-range glory, haha

aftermarket

The aftermarket makes great claims but do they see all the ones that are taken off because they are junk. Please you need to see the amount of wires you need tap into to do this you will shit your pants. Have yet to see a quality install job solder in remote starter been 28 years.

taping into wires doesn't scare me at all. if I can get an aftermarket one for about the same as factory or cheaper I''ll go with aftermarket.
