I'm not sure if it's an inherent flaw with the wifi interface or with iOS, but I found the Bluetooth connection much more reliable and the Android app much better performing. Th iOS app was laggy and it locked up often.
I bit the bullet and got a quality reader. Didn't want to mess with it anymore, and I already had a spare Nexus I could dedicate to this duty. The Bluetooth connection connects and disconnects consistently and reliably, and there is no noticeable lag in the readout, like rpms.
My only pet peeve is that Dashcommand won't go to sleep unless you exit the app, so I have to manually exit the app every time or it will drain my Nexus battery when I leave the car. I wasn't willing to hardwire it to the car battery for fear of draining it if I left the Nexus on overnight. I'd rather have the Nexus drain than my car battery.
ZBoater - how did the mount you have connect to the coin holder?
You have a great looking setup....
It uses a plastic mount that clips into the gap between the coin holder and the dash. It doesn't look like it, but there is a gap, and the kit comes with a plastic tool to pry it open enough to install the mount. Very sturdy when it's done. Proclip mounts are pretty ingenious.
