Rear Winch ideas?

Without knowing what the uhaul trailer looks like to see how you'd mount anything to it, I don't know that there's any way we can recommend a winch mount that would attach to the trailer. And I definitely haven't heard of a truck bed mount for a winch, though I suppose it's possible it exists if you want to drill through and attach to the frame rails.

Silly question, I'm sure, but how have you loaded the car onto the trailer in the past? Or have you not done it before? Can you not just drive the car onto the trailer?

Do you think the upper receiver tube on those double receivers is rated for the force from the winch pulling on it? Plus, neither is rated to 8000lb, like the OP said he's looking for.

It's only pulling a car rolling in neutral up onto a trailer. Hardly any load really. Sorry I just read you mentioned this option in the first post. I'm not being very helpful so far. Lol.

Once you get the car strapped in you could remove double hitch again.

Yea i looked at those and called up CURT yesterday and they do not recommend to put a winch mount on the accessory port and winch 3500lb car..the tech guy said the weld might snap.

Yeah, I figured you wouldn't want to put a winch on that upper hitch receiver.

I think it's probably a good solution for you...it will be more physical work than just pressing a button for the winch, but is MUCH easier for you to use with a rented trailer, and it will be much cheaper. Once you get your own trailer you can look into mounting a winch on it in a more permanent/secure manner than anything you'd be able to do with the Uhaul trailer.

Now I got it....
I'd fab up a special hitch to go into the truck with small section of female square tubing to accept any normal hitch...and fab a quick release mount for the actual winch...the trailer would be hitched up and the winch would be temporally mounted to pull cars up the trailer...after that you disconnect the winch and put it away...

Remember to use good copper cables running from the battery up front to a quality quick connector in back to power the winch...
