Rear end oil bad!?

That is why I put the Mag-Hytec cover on mine (every truck I have had for 20 years has had one)----holds more, has a PLUG to drain and is finned! Have Amsoil in mine----decided to do this a little early because the seals along the top or the cover were leaking just enough to cause dirt to collect a little.

The factory cover has to be pulled to drain the fluid.

Do the fronts diff of the 2012's need to be flushed? If so, what intervals?

Front diff is drain and refill. Maintenance schedule says not till 150k (I wont wait that long). That's for the 10 and 11's. Since the 12's have the torsion, it might be different. The workshop manual isn't completely updated for the 12's yet and says to refer to the owners manual for maintenance schedules.

Yeah Toyota still has some sense left when it comes to diff services, but changing head light bulbs or running lights on a highlander or prius or rav4?? Can you say circus cluster **** batman?

Just checked my manual... It says 150,000 miles too. Nothign about the Torsen changing anything either. I hate our stinking owner's manual though. It's basically a stock F150 manual that has asterisks for everything that you have to search through pages of stuff to get to the Raptor footnote. Annoying...

I feel sorry for people that do not know about changing fluids on a regular basis. Ford has such short powertrain coverage they could not care less.

Diff oil darkens with use like any other oil. Does it fragrance burnt? At 41K I would anticipate it to be dark. Black is always better than milky (water in the oil). Diff can't be enclosed absolutely (has to vent out somewhere). I think manufacturer assurance passes away at 32 to 36K.
