After hunting around in the 90 degree weather for 45 minutes I came in and looked at all of the pictures and went back out and tried again. Five minutes in I was able to get it, once I folded it down it looked like there was red LocTite on the screws and other parts at that point I realized it was time to get a couple of bandages. It almost seems like a deterrent by leaving everything in it`s raw punched out state and why make the pin on the lever you need to lift so short? My son in law has a Gen 1. The latch appears the same. The defining issue is clearance! The SCREW seat back moves forward as the bottom seat cushion is lifted. This provides an opportunity to at least see the latch. The SCAB seat back does not move forward, leaving it mostly all guess work. I was able to eventually pull on the seat back enough to realize I was hunting too low, and a bit left of the target. Right now Built Right has a bundle sale (saves a couple of bucks) if the latch release is purchased with the front tray. Good for me, as I will add a trailer camera monitor to our monster 14 ft travel trailer.
Upgrade is on order, I don`t care if I never use it but if I do I can thank everyone here on the forum who have experienced the same pain
I have to add, you mentioned that the factory strap was tucked down next to the bracket. I just went out and double checked inside the back of the seat cover and there was no strap to be found. Did the strap only come on certain year trucks? mine is a 18
