Recently got a nasty scratch on the rear applique of my truck and was wondering if anyone knew of a touch up paint option, readily available to the public.

I know that the color is technically 'Magnetic' or at least close to it, but obviously the applique isn't glossy so that wouldn't be the best bet.

Thanks in advance!

I purchased the “magnetic” touch up as I backed into a large Bush and scratched my tailgate valence to the bone color of the plastic. It is close but seems to be slightly lighter to me. At the time the local Ford parts area at my dealership did not know the exact color. I know that is not much help but magnetic is NOT an exact match.

I picked up a 1/4" scratch on my hood and ordered the motorcraft touchup paint. I had the code when I ordered it and it doesn't mix well enough to match. I re-applied and can't get it to match. Being on the hood I can cover it with a graphic but IDK if you can do that (or want to) on the tailgate.
Take my advice and go to a body shop.

When lightly sanding the paint seems to be thin as the undercoat showed up with little effort on my part.

Little late to the party but I was searching for some tailgate info for the black 2019+ tailgates and found this. It’s magnetic with a satin clear. Did one of my fenders a while back and they’re the same color/finish.

Good info, thanks.

I'm betting that he satin clear makes all the difference. Ford Parts Catalog calls it "Carbon Black".
