It’s not a deterrent, but we keep apple AirTags hidden in all the vehicles. Should the raptor be stolen while I go into the city at least I will be able to find it immediately.

Consult your state specific laws to understand what you can and cannot do upon locating your stolen property

I'm curious, where do these Raptors disappear? Urban areas? Airport Parking lots? They arent in garages? I live in the detroit suburbs and I just dont hear of this around here like I do all over the warm climate areas. Yes, the Airport has issues with Hellcats etc and can be a target and as you get close and into the city of Detroit there are issues, but I live on a dead end street with a garage. Cars get stolen for sure everywhere but the warm south/west seems to have a epidemic.
Have you looked into Canada yet? Highest of them all.

Texas, especially San Antonio and Houston. Hotel, airport and other overnight (or any other non-patrolled) parking lots, mostly. Most of the stolen ones go into Mexico.

I can tell you from direct experience and directly from others who went through the same thing as me that, in most cases, the police will do nothing even if you tell them where it is, especially if it's inside a warehouse or other closed facility. Again, the Houston police told me directly they will not do anything to retrieve it, even if you tell them where it is, and the only way you'll recover it is if it is found abandoned, or discovered purely coincidentally during the commission of another crime.

Paraphrasing Gunny Hartmann: 'If it wasn’t for Díckheads like them there wouldn’t be any thievery in this world’

IIRC unauth use of a vehicle is minor felony in Texas, theft is more severe and the fact that they KNOW, not suspect, they KNOW that these vehicles stolen from South Texas will end up being used for human smuggling, means that the substandard oxygen thieves masquerading as law enforcement quoting or enacting this lazy, good for nothing policy are themselves, scumbags.

You are correct! However if you road trip, or have a dog inside the truck, the last thing you will want is to return to the place the Raptor WAS parked. Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and California, the truck will be south of the border quickly. $700 for what if, is nothing to me. I have a dog that I poured my guts into and soon I will have one more. Normally, when I go into a grocery store, I leave the dog inside a crate in the bed of the truck. I cannot comprehend what it would be like to come out of the store and see my dog gone….I don’t give a duck about the truck! I had a teammate in San Diego that experienced it. It was not good! I live in Idaho, crime is not an issue, but I still carry a gun and unplug my truck…….everywhere! The old saying….it is better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it…..life in general
