There was a bird's nest in the wall near the ladder going down into the Lava Tube. And in the nest were at least two tiny birdies (chicks?) - can you see them?

I am LOVING all the pics. Great job guys. I like vicariously living through these. So much history and amazing how much life is in the desert. Not to mention how awesome the Raptors look all together out there.

The end of the 2nd day of the trip took us through what we Raptor owners agreed are the best set of trails we've driven our Raptors on. These ****** (to Raptors) trails are the kind Raptor owners who've driven in the desert dream of. Wide, smooth with very few "gotchas" (drop-offs or other sections that could cause problems when run at higher speeds). We had a great time when we split off from the Jeeps and let our Raptors run! WOOO HOOO!!!

We're going back to this area for sure. It's just a matter of when and we can get to this area pretty easily since there are roads fairly close by. :)

We camped in these trails and since we were too busy driving and having fun the only pics we have of the trails are from our campsite.

The third and final day took us to an abandoned mine area which we drove through and Spooky Canyon which we hiked into (imagine hiking into a wide open canyon that continues to get more narrow as you hike up it until it's only wide enough for you in an area where the sun can't reach).

We stopped and took a break under one of a number of train trestles we drove by. Little did we know what was soon to come...

a river crossing.
