Well could you imagine having to fill a raptor up with premium when you get maybe 15 mpg

I fill it with premium now and only get 13ish in traffic.

I would love better economy, just not at the expense of power. If there had been a box for a 429ci 700hp engine that got 10mpg's, I would have checked it - hippies be damned.

No, the comparison is preposterous. You don't buy a 4x4 for fuel economy, you buy it for capability. Any discussion of 4x4 or even truck mpg is as stupid as discussing whether a Prius is faster than a Honda INSiGHT or a Ford Leaf. If you've bought a Raptor and you figure mpg at every fill-up, you have bought the wrong vehicle because you don't know your own mind.

If you like action-adventure, don't watch Opra.
If admire the brainy type, then don't bother trying to score a date with Megan Fox.
And if fuel economy is your primary automotive concern, then don't buy a 6,000 pound, 411 bhp, 4x4 truck.

When somebody asks me what kind of gas mileage I get with my Raptor, my standard response is, "What a peculiar question!" Because it is.

arent you just a breath of fresh air. thanks for clearing that up for us.

The Eco Boost is a pretty cool engine when it suits the needs. It has plenty of power and gets good in town mileage. This engines biggest downfall is bigger tires. Like everyone says it is very powerful and efficient when it has boost. When you are putting around town or cruising down the highway you are using minimal boost if any at all. I've seen multiple vehicles attempt 33inch tires on and mileage drops to 11 constantly in town and 14MPG. Changing out gears would be one way to get that back. I have seen multiple people trade in the 3.5 for a 6.2 just because the bad mileage when tire size is increase. Just my opinion on what I see everyday working with them.

this is useful information. thank you!

Different arguement. I'd take a factory 700 hp warrantied engine with 10 mpg as well. An extra 300 hp is well worth 1-2 mpg loss. But if it's between a 400 hp engine with 10 mpg and a 400 hp engine with 20 mpg, I'm taking the 20 mpg one, as would practically everyone else. Well other than those ostridges with their head in the sand (or up their ***) that insist that trucks should have crappy fuel economy because it makes it more manly of a truck to get chitty mileage, and we really shouldn't give a rats *** at all what mpg it gets. Those morons would chose the 10 mpg version. :ROFLJest:

It's only a fair for the mileage comparison that if you're adding the larger tires to raptor sizes, to change the gearing to raptor gearing, otherwise the mpg arguements are skewed with only changing half of that. It's the same as going and putting 3.08's or 3.55's in the Raptor and griping the fuel mileage around town went to crap and the 6.2 sucks. It's not the 6.2, it's the gearing. Find results where an EB owner did tires AND gears and it'd be a much more even comparison.

Thank you for pointing out the obvious. My only point is someone that just spent over 45k on a vehicle doesn't want to drop another 1500 dollars in changing there gears just because they needed bigger tires to feel better about there ride. Only thing that matters is accounting for variable change.

LOL so they can drop 45k on the vehicle, and probably 3000 on bigger tires and different rims, yet they cant drop 1000-1500 on the gears to put the ratio where it should be.

Sorry I didn't know we were doing this discussion from the standpoint of owners who can afford expensive trucks, expensive big tires, yet cheap azzes when it comes to the details that make the package complete. Sorry I'm not used to arguing points from a half azzed standpoint.

Well said. The same ones bitch about the fuel economy of their 6000 pound trucks and engage in fantasy truck design games to somehow compensate, I suppose.

I'm not going to argue your everyday blow Joe's point. When someone can afford to buy something that expensive with tires and wheels I agree with you they should be able to complete the job. I also agree with you about arguing with someone so stupid even more so when you try and explain to someone who just doesn't understand and can't figure out why tires make such a difference. My only arguement is that I think the eco boost is for a more narrow customer base, I think most should stick to the v8 or wait till they ECO the 5.0
